SAN JOSE, CALIF. — At the 2022 Grammys, the famous teenage pop singer, Olivia Rodrigo, won three Grammys out of a total seven nominations on April 3, 2022. Later that night, accidentally broke one in half back-stage while posing with her awards.

The global star, Olivia Rodrigo, started her race to fame in 2016 when she played Paige in “Bizaardvark” on Disney Channel and starred in High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. However, her real rise to fame began with the release of her hit song, Drivers License in 2021. After the song became a global sensation she later released her album SOUR. All of the support from her old fans, new fans, celebrities and overall the general public, raised Rodrigo to the number one spot on global Spotify Wrapped Lists.

Rodrigo was honored with seven Grammy nominations, which included Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Best New Artist, Best Pop Vocals Album, Best Pop Solo Performance and Best Music Video. With the rise of these monumental achievements, Rodrigo announced she would be going on tour and the release of a SOUR film would be coming to Disney+.

At the 2022 Grammys, Rodrigo rightfully won three Grammys from the categories: Best New Artist, Best Pop Vocals Album and Best Pop Solo Performance. As she celebrated her wins backstage, she unfortunately dropped one of the Grammy in half. Many have made a connection of this event to a similar one that occurred to Taylor Swift in 2010, when she won four Grammys and dropped one of them. It’s humorous to see young Rodrigo following in Swift’s footsteps as Rodrigo considers Swift her role model in the music industry.

An anonymous Silver Creek student mentions, “I’m really proud of Olivia for winning the three Grammys and I can’t wait to see what she has to come!” While junior, Savanna Kowalski, “She blew up during the 2021 quarantine.”Also mentioning that she’s astonished by Rodrigo’s rapid popularity growth. Overall most fans are proud of Rodrigo’s accomplishments, and can’t wait to see what she has in store whether it’s roles or music.
