Holiday Tunes Bring Joy and Connection to Campus

By Derek Contreras
As December arrives familiar songs fill the air, and even the busiest days feel lighter.

Holiday music is more than just background noise. They carry memories, emotions, and a sense of connection that can make the season feel brighter.

Many people find that certain tunes instantly carry them back to happy moments with family and friends. Songs that might seem simple on the outside, like “Feliz Navidad” or other holiday classics, often spark memories at family dinners, laughter or year-end traditions that  bring people together.

Holiday music takes many forms, along as they rush to their next class, while others turn to softer versions to focus during study sessions. In both cases, holiday music serves a simple but important purpose, bringing people together. Even in quiet study spaces like the library, the shared recognition of a familiar song can make a brief moment feel meaningful.

The school and staff also play a role in keeping the season cheerful, especially Associated Student Body (ASB). The library and office might play Christmas music softly in the background, to show students that joy doesn’t have to wait for a break, they can be experienced right in the middle of a busy semester.

At the end of the day, holiday music during school is a gentle reminder that happiness can be shared in small, everyday ways. Even a short pause to recognize a familiar tune can brighten someone’s day and strengthen the sense of community that makes student life meaningful. Even during exams, deadlines, and  busy schedules, these songs quietly remind us that joy can often be found in the simplest moments. It’s a reminder that even during stressful times, there are simple ways to pause and connect with those around us.
