Haunted Homes Take Over San Jose This Halloween!

By: Valarie Magana

SAN JOSE, CALIF.— October is here and residents are turning their homes into spooky attractions, drawing crowds of trick-or-treaters.

Every October, families in San Jose show their Halloween spirit by covering their homes with creative decorations. This year, residents have gone all out with jack-ó-lanterns, skeletons and glowing lights that transform ordinary houses into spooky attractions. The streets across the city are lined with glowing pumpkins, spooky music, and ghostly decorations that draw attention from trick-or-treaters and visitors from nearby neighborhoods.

Many families begin decorating at the start of the month, turning it into a fun tradition that everyone can enjoy. Parents and children work together to plan their creativity, often adding something special each year. The neighbors across from my grandparents house said, ‘’We try to make it bigger and better every Halloween. It’s something our whole family looks forward to and we try to make it enjoyable for everyone to experience.’’

The decorations are attracting children, parents and visitors who love walking through the fascinating streets and seeing the creativity of each home. Some houses have giant inflatables, fog machines and even colorful graveyards that come to life at night. Others keep it simple with spider webs and pumpkins, but still keep the Halloween mood.

These decorations not only show off Halloween spirit, but also bring the community together, spreading excitement for Halloween night and making the holiday an amazing experience for everyone. The neighbors compliment each other’s work, share decorating tips and bond over the excitement of the season. The spirit of Halloween fills the air, not only through costumes and candy, but also through the joy of creating something special for everyone to see.

As Halloween night approaches, the decorations continue to light up San Jose, spreading excitement and expectation. The creativity and effort shown by the community make the holiday an amazing experience for everyone. Whether it’s glowing pumpkins, spooky skeletons, or shining lights, these displays remind everyone that Halloween is about imagination and a little bit of frightful fun.
