SAN JOSE, CALIF.—Silver Creek High School’s Mental Health & Wellness Center offers support and positivity for students.

(AHRIYAH YI/RAIDER REVIEW)
The Mental Health & Wellness Center at Silver Creek welcomes students seeking support and encouragement. The center provides counseling, crisis intervention, and brief group or individual therapy for students who want extra support. It’s run by Emily Harrington and Kayla Marshall, two full time staff members who are always ready to help and are familiar faces on campus.
Students don’t need an appointment or a specific reason to stop by. Some visit to talk or get advice, while others come in to play games, read, or just take a quiet break from classes. The center is designed to be comfortable and open for everyone, whether someone is facing a challenge or just needs a peaceful space. Inside, there are areas for relaxing, drawing, reading, or using fidgets so every student can find something that helps them feel at ease.
Harrington and Marshall are known for making students feel heard and understood. Their approachable style helps even busy students feel supported. The centers mission is to make sure every student knows there is support available whenever it’s needed and someone’s always willing to listen. Students can drop in any time during school hours, even if they just want a quiet moment to themselves.
Throughout the year, the center organizes events like World kindness week, encouraging students to spread positivity and look out for each other. Activities include leaving positive notes, creating art, and walking for causes like suicide prevention. These help build a stronger community and remind everyone of the importance of kindness.
Even for students who aren’t struggling with major issues, having a space to relax can make a difference. The Wellness Center lives as a reminder that Silver Creek values student wellbeing and wants everyone to feel safe, supported and welcome at school.
