Ms. Lesoine, New Vice Principal of Silver Creek

By Sophia Rodriguez

SAN JOSE, CALIF.— Mary Kate Lesoine takes on a new role as vice principal for the 2025-2026 school year at Silver Creek High School.

After realising her passion, Lesoine becomes one of the vice principals. Helping students and solving any problems they’ve encountered. She may be new to the school, but she’ll bring years of experience and her enthusiasm for helping students.

Lesoine did not grow up here locally! She grew up on the East Coast, in Long Island, before moving to Bethelem, Pennsylvania. Lesoine then moved to San Jose back in 2012. Lesoine studied at Moravian Univeristy, Pennsylvania, where she majored in biology and secondary education, while also playing volleyball back in college. Lesoine later went to Wilkes Uninversity, Pennsylvania, to earn her masters in science and educational technology.

Before becoming vice principal, Lesoine spent 15 years teaching. “I realized when I was teaching in the classroom, I was more passionate about helping my students,” Lesoine explained. This passion has led her to become a student advisor at Independence High School and then Evergreen High School before moving to the administrative department.

Here at Silver Creek, Lesoines enjoys working with families, teachers, and students. Her main goal is to see where students are at and ensure that they have the opportunities and support they need to have a successful year. When asked if she always wanted to work in the education field, Lesoine admitted to wanting to become a Navy nurse, as her father is a retired marine, and who now has a purple heart. However, after running volleyball clinics in college and observing classrooms, Lesoine found her passion. “I was working at some volleyball clinics in the summer, I really liked working with kids, so I hopped into some classrooms that year, did some observations and then I was like, you know what? I think I want to try teaching, and that’s kind of like how I fell in love with that.” Lesoine said.

Above all that, Lesoine emphasizes that students are the reason why she comes here and works each day. With that, Lesoine brings great leadership to Silver Creek, who not only focuses on academic success but also on creating a supportive community where students should be able to have the chance to thrive and be successful.
