Botanical Club setting up during Club Rush (CRYSTAL SANCHEZ/RAIDER REVIEW)

SAN JOSE, CALIF.—Students explore clubs during Club Rush Sep. 2-4, getting a chance to discover new interests and peers.

Silver Creek High School offers a variety of clubs. Some clubs like Latino Student Union, Black Student Union or Cambodian Unity Alliance, help build bridges and honor their cultural values by passing down traditions. Silver Creek also offers service clubs such as UNICEF and National Honors Society to encourage students to help their community. Students can also join fitness clubs such as weightlifting.

Club Rush is held as a way to welcome new members and help clubs gain traction and thrive. It allows clubs to showcase themselves. For example, Silver Creek K-Pop or Vietnamese Student Union perform choreographed dances to attract potential members. For those less interested in dance, Tri-M offers opportunities to create and perform music. Other options are board game clubs where you can play games and connect with others. Academic clubs are also available, whether its Pre-Med or SCHS Computer Science club, these subjects give early access to students to gain knowledge and understanding on these subjects to prepare them for possible future careers.

Club Treasurer Alexis Romero for Folklorico says, “Since this is my final year at Silver Creek I feel that Club Rush is a great experience for my friends and I, as well as finally being able to participate in my own club as an officer and getting to see new faces walk up to our table and sign up.” Take a chance and visit clubs because you never know what can happen.
