SAN JOSE, CALIF.—Jason Quach, a senior at Silver Creek High School and president of the pickleball club shows off his pickleball ability at school and the court.
To further introduce Quach, he is also on the badminton team for our school and plays on the varsity team. He started playing pickleball about a year ago during the summer and was introduced to pickleball by his family friends. He realized how much more fun it was compared to badminton and decided to play pickleball over badminton instead.
When he started playing pickleball, everyone around him was still relatively new to it and everyone was around his level in skill, which made him enjoy and learn more about the game. His passion for the game started to grow and soon “took over his life.”

For anyone that’s interested in playing pickleball, Quach says, “It’s a straightforward, beginner friendly game, so anyone can try it.” He considers it the easiest racket sport to play and thinks it’s gonna be an easy transition into the game if you have previous experience in racket sports. He says most of his pickleball skill he has now was because of his transition from badminton to pickleball and he uses some techniques he learned from badminton into pickleball. Some advice he has is to try your best to have fun and not get upset when you aren’t performing so well.
Quach enjoys playing pickleball with his friends and plays pickup games at Evergreen Valley College. He goes there as most of the players there are advanced and finds playing against challenging opponents as very fun. However, if you want to go against the best players, he recommends going to THE HUB, which is an indoor pickleball court area. He lives nearby EVC which makes the commute short and easy for him when he needs to go play pickleball.
Quach has started the pickleball club because of the new pickleball craze and his newfound enjoyment and fun from playing it, which further inspired him to start the club. He is currently a varsity player in the Silver Creek Badminton team and really enjoyed the similarities between the both of them.
Quach often hosts meetups for pickleball at Evergreen Valley College. There are usually friendly tournaments and sometimes with prizes for the winners.
This is our school’s pickleball club leader. Find him around campus and ask him about pickleball or badminton! He would be very happy to help!
