SAN JOSE, CALIF. — Luka Dončić, an NBA player for the Dallas Mavericks has been traded to the Los Angeles Lakers for Anthony Davis who played for the Los Angeles Lakers; I cannot believe this trade is real because it’s so one-sided.

After the trade had gone through, the National Basketball Association fan base went into chaos online with good reason as this was one the biggest trades in recent NBA history. The trade was one-sided and there was a clear winner in the trade as the Lakers got their future, whereas the Mavericks traded away their future. 

The trade wasn’t even close and although Anthony Davis is a great defender as he has been a five-time NBA all-defensive team and a nine-time all-star, Luka Dončić on the other hand has been an all-star five times as well and is a 5-time NBA first team. 

Although Anthony Davis may have more awards, the downside is he is 31-years-old and getting “old” in the basketball world, whereas Luka Dončić is 25-years-old and was the scoring leader for last year’s 2023-2024 season and went third in MVP voting and on top of that led his team to the NBA Finals and although he was defeated in the NBA Finals whereas Anthony Davis lost in the first round of the playoffs last season.

“ I was shocked when I heard about this trade because Luka is one of the best players in the world and although Anthony Davis is good he is nowhere near Luka Dončić’s level,” Sergio Hernandez, a freshman at Silver Creek High said. 

I couldn’t agree more with Hernandez along with the Dallas Mavericks fans since they swarmed outside the stadium the next game, protesting to undo the trade as they were this upset with this. If I were a Mavericks fan I would probably do the same thing as he did everything for the Mavericks organization as Dončić almost brought them the championship and as of now they are nowhere near

For individuals who don’t watch basketball, wondering why people are freaking out about this trade and what’s so big about it, it’s like saying Nathan MacKinnon traded for Sidney Crosby for NHL fans, Juan Soto for Mookie Betts for MLB fans, Josh Allen for Matthew Stafford in NFL fans, and Kylian Mbappé for Virgil Van Dijk.
