Winter Break is Almost Here: Time to Unwind and Recharge

SAN JOSE, CALIF.— With winter break just around the corner, it’s the perfect opportunity for students in the East Side Union High School District (ESUHSD) to hit the pause button and enjoy some much-needed downtime.

Silver Creek High School along with other schools in the ESUHSD, is eagerly anticipating winter break, which runs from Feb. 17 through Feb. 21. As the break approaches, students are striving to stay positive and stress-free during the final stretch. However, with many teachers scheduling tests, exams and projects, some students may be feeling the pressure and stress.

Meanwhile, others are focused and pushing through their work, determined to finish strong before the well-deserved time off. On break, some students may be going on vacation and some may stay at home and relax.

“I’m going to Disneyland with my family and one of my friends”, said Colby Faumui, a junior at Santa Teresa High School. During break, Faumui will celebrate his 17th birthday. Disneyland has been a very popular vacation choice. Faumui’s mom really enjoys traveling and going on trips with her two sons. They had not been to Disneyland in a long time and were deciding between Universal Studios and Disneyland. Faumui’s younger brother chose Disneyland.

“I will be locking in on editing my photos and making edits”. Brendon Jeong said. The junior from Leigh High School  began taking photos for fun, but soon it led to many football and basketball players wanting him to take candid pictures for them during their games. Jeong had the opportunity to capture great photos at the GSF senior game and the Charlie Wedemeyer All-Star game. The GSF (Get Sports Focused) is a program for athletes, both boys and girls. They held a Flag Football all star game for girls all around the Central Coast Section as well as a Football game for boys. The Charlie Wedemeyer All-star game is where the best seniors in the county face off for the last time. They are split up into two teams, North and South.

For many seniors, especially after this February Break they’re anticipating for  Senioritis to kick in.

“I’m already over going to school, I just want to graduate and leave”, said Amanda Bayani, a senior at Silver Creek High School.

With four months away from graduation, Seniors are looking forward to walking down the stage. In the end, after Winter Break, school will fly by and soon, it will be summer.
