SAN JOSE, CALIF. —  Math teacher Oliver Rooney described his thoughts about Silver Creek and how the experience of teaching here has been for him.

Oliver Rooney is a teacher at Silver Creek, but was being a teacher always his dream growing up or did he have a different career in mind? Growing up, Oliver actually wanted to be an animator for Disney and Pixar, but his dream started to change in college when he realized if this was actually the job he wanted for the future and if this would make him happy in the future.

 Over time, his dream started to change because animating didn’t really give him the joy he had once had for it. He was always good at explaining things to people and enjoyed helping them understand things they couldn’t get before. Math was an easy class for Rooney and was the class he enjoyed the most growing up until today.

So eventually, he put the pieces together and realized he could do a job that involved math and helping others, and what better way than that than getting a job as a math teacher. So Oliver graduated and that’s how he ended up at Silver Creek.  At first, he was nervous at first when he got to SC but over time that had changed as to how nice the people were here. 

Rooney said, “ I was nervous when I first got here but over time it changed because of the supportive teachers, students, and environment.” He loves teaching here at Silver Creek and would love to keep teaching here in the future because of the environment here and how supportive everyone here is to him at Silver Creek.
