SAN JOSE, CALIF.—The vending machines at Silver Creek High School have been disappearing since 2020, when the pandemic started, however since then it still has been unanswered as to why they have been out of commission. The vending machines have been vacant since the current graduating class of 2025 were freshmen coming back from the pandemic. No one has been able to buy any snacks during passing, break, or lunch and are subjected to just the school lunch.

Students on campus have never got the chance to use any of the vending machines. The low usage grew after Covid-19 hit and it just cancelled out the vending machines completely. The staff made the decision to get rid of the hollow vending machines because they were just taking up space. Teachers on campus and students alike have noticed that the vending machines are gone, but no one seems to mind its absence.

Usually when a change affecting the campus is made the population at the school is given a heads up but this time around everyone was left in the dark. Seniors around campus and every other student don’t mind the absence of the vending machines. “I want to see a variety of chips and little bites and some pastry bites from Costco,” said Megan Obis, reminiscing about the convenience and variety that vending machines once provided. one student said, reminiscing about the convenience and variety that vending machines once provided. The only reason we don’t have vending machines anymore is because of the lack of students on campus they decided they were no longer necessary.
