SAN JOSE, CALIF. — Many Silver Creek High School students set goals that they would like to achieve for the New Year of 2025.
With the fresh new start of the new year, several people decided that it is time to start reaching their goals. Participating in the New Year’s resolution tradition gives people the opportunity to work on themselves in what they feel they need to improve on. However, having resolutions looks different for everyone either physically, emotionally, financially, socially and other aspects some people would like to work on for themselves.
New Year’s resolutions can be for anyone to participate in, like students at Silver Creek High. Junior, Ashely Estrada, thinks that New Year’s is a good way of wanting to improve yourself and a time of the year that promotes growth.
Although Estrada believes that we should not just look at the first day of the new year but also at the whole year. This is so that we set realistic goals that help us lead up to our overall goal.
“Being very specific about your goals that you want to achieve at the end of the year. Either by Pinterest or other people’s changes that you’ve heard about and implementing that in your day to day lifestyle.”
Another junior, Celine Adrong, has a resolution on getting a job in clothing retail. She wants a working position in retail because it would be easier for her due to her familiarity within that field of knowledge Along with how she would get to see the different fashion trends and see people’s fashion choices.
Getting a chance to work in retail would also give her the chance to be more independent saying, “this would help me learn how not to rely on my parents for everything and also learn how to budget.”
Kim Tran, also a junior, has set goals for herself for this new year. She wants to be more active and earn straight A’s. She wants to stay healthy and not have unhealthy habits like staying up all night to study. She wants to make this change for herself because not only does she want to be more productive, but it would also have an impact on her health.
Especially since Last year, Tran wasn’t able to achieve these goals because of her academics, she felt motivated from everyone else who she has noticed is also being more productive health wise.
“I would be happy and feel like I actually accomplished these goals,” said Tran.
New Year’s allows people to better themselves and reconnect new habits that create positive attributes. And Silver Creek students are doing just that this 2025 school year.
