SAN JOSE CALIF — Jennifer Mendoza, a Silver Creek High School counselor, helps us to stay on track throughout our high school years so students can graduate.
Mendoza is one of the academic counselors we have on campus. She helps students ensure that they are on the right track for high school graduation—or following suit of the A-G requirements. Even if she isn’t your counselor, she is still willing to accommodate anyone or answer any questions you may have, especially about academics like a student’s schedule or their credit status.

Although some students may be intimidated by counselors, Mendoza makes sure to create a positive environment to ask all the questions you may have. Without a doubt, she gives reassurance to any concerns. Even if she can’t attend to that student, she makes it a point to make time for you that works for you and her. In addition if you emailed her about a meeting she will send a pass to your classroom so students can meet with her and at times will send an email to remind you. However if you aren’t comfortable with talking with her in person or scheduling a meeting, you can scan a QR code and she gives anyone the option to have a meeting with her over the phone.
Mendoza provides support beyond checking in with your credits such as supporting you with social and emotional referrals, finding a career path, the process of financial aid, college applications and much more. Mendoza assures you that you are able to have all resources available for your success. As a counselor she tries to be a support system to all students regardless of what the situation may be.
Even though we may have a difficult time during school Mendoza guides us through those tough times and creates a plan that will work for you. Her best advice is, “ Check in with your counselor if you have any questions, attend your classes on time, if absent check in with your teachers the next day, ask questions when you need help, attend tutoring, and use all resources available to you”. Her door is always open, and wants the best for all students and see students achieving their goals.
