SAN JOSE, CALIF.—As the air gets chilly and the days get shorter, Silver Creek students are rehearsing for 2024’s winter celebration, Winterfest on Dec 7, held in Raider Hall!
On Saturday, Dec. 7, Silver Creek’s winter performance, Winterfest, invites students, families, and friends to see magical experiences full of singing, dancing, and performing! Show one will be at 5 p.m., and show two will start at 7:30 p.m. Thanks to head commissioner Daisy Flores-Martinez, her co-head Jackie Tran, and the help Leadership, this show is aimed to promote school spirit and provide a break to the students after a long semester of hard work.
Tickets will be available to purchase starting Dec. 2 at $10 each. Make sure to pass by the student bank to grab tickets for your friends and family before they’re sold out, because this year there will be no tickets sold at the door.
Winterfest is a performance for the winter holidays with each show being two hours long. It consists of a variety of Silver Creek’s performance clubs such as Choreo, VSA, K-pop club, and other acts such as bands made up of students, solo and duet songs. In front of Raider Hall, the commission stand will be selling snacks, warm food, and refreshing drinks for its viewers.
All profit made will be given to Associated Student Body (ASB) funds, which are the funds that have this production possible in the first place, along with other fundraisers that the school provides. The students of the events commision, ASB, and Leadership have planned and prepared for Winterfest by organizing auditions, organizing club schedules, creating props and decorations to transform the campus into a winter wonderland! The students of Leadership have also organized special surprises for the students during the week before and after Winterfest!
“For performers, Winterfest creates fun experiences and memories with clubs or friends,” Flores-Martinez said. Adding, “Students also get to learn about cultures, like Vietnamese Student Association, Filipino Student Union, Polynesian Club, Folklorico, and many more!”
The purpose of these events are to boost school morale and be a stress reliever, ultimately giving students something to look forward to after weeks and weeks of studying. This student run production provides students with an outlet to show off their talents and the hard work they’ve put in to pull off the best show they can give!
Jackie Tran said, “I’ve gone to Winterfest before and the show was really fun! Being able to watch my friends perform was exhilarating. Seeing their hard work and how well it was put together made me so proud.” As Tran is a part of Leadership now, she claims that the process of putting Winterfest together is hard, but is worth all the stress in the end.
Flores-Martinez’s goal for 2024’s Winterfest is “for viewers to enjoy the whole show because these students have been preparing for months.” Especially for the seniors who are involved, “I want it to be full of enjoyable events for students, the staff, and parents. I want everyone to have a good time and create memories.”
Winterfest is one of the many opportunities for the students of Silver Creek to display their talents and effort and for friends and family to support them and show their appreciation. Be sure to buy tickets after the week of Thanksgiving break to ensure your spot in Raider Hall to experience the remarkable performances that have been created for the enjoyment of the audience!
