SAN JOSE, CALIF — A guide from seasoned Raiders and staff on how to prepare for Silver Creek’s finals from Dec. 18 to Dec. 20.
So, how should you prepare for finals? Some advice is that the first thing you need when you study is to have organized materials. Make sure that all your notes, textbooks, assignments, and past quizzes or exams are in places where you can find them easily and quickly. Sort through your notes and summarize the main ideas. This is a good way to interact with your notes and assignments to be able to memorize everything. You need to group the ideas together and identify the important ones.
Consider having a positive mindset all the time throughout preparing for finals. Do not feel pressured or stressed, as you will be well prepared and try your best. In case there is anything that seems hard, never get panicked instead, take a deep breath and really try to understand the problem you are struggling with.
Let’s see how teachers recommend how to prepare for finals. Katrina Seal, an Expository Reading and Writing Curriculum (ERWC) teacher here at Silver Creek, said, “Make sure you know what will be assessed and how.” Seal emphasizes how to be prepared for finals is to make sure to know all the material in each of your classes as it could prove to be very helpful.
Seal adds “Study a little each day, rather than waiting till the night before.” Studying right before finals will not help you retain the information well. Being able to memorize the material before your final should be cumulative and studying everyday will help you memorize the material much more efficiently.
Kayla Lam, a senior at Silver Creek, advises “I think space repetition is the most useful way to retain information.” Spaced repetition is a method of studying by reviewing your class material in systematic intervals.
Finals are approaching slowly, this upcoming December. Make sure to be well prepared for finals and study well. Walking into your finals with a positive attitude and confidence will help you be ready for finals.
