SAN JOSE, CALIF—Winter is coming, that means some of the best sports will be coming up that Silver Creek High School offers.
After searching on the Silver Creek website I found that the sports coming up for winter are boys and girls Basketball, boys and girls soccer, Traditional Cheer, and Wrestling. These sports usually last from mid-October to mid-February with the official start date being November 11, 2024. If some of the teams have a good season, the teams could even last a little longer with the teams qualifying and competing in state or other tournaments after the season. Some sports like wrestling even have “post-season” practice which is just practice after the season to keep the players sharp and in shape. If you are interested in soccer tryouts for JV and Varsity boys soccer begin on Monday, November 4. To participate in any of these sports the player must have a physical completed after June 1 first. All players must also register online at http://www.athleticclearance.com before participating in any tryout or practice.

I asked Anshul Kothari who is a junior here at Silver Creek High School, “Which Winter Sport is your favorite?” He answered, “I think wrestling because the matches are cool and can get intense as the matches go on.” I also asked him the question “Have you ever been to a wrestling tournament?” He stated, “Yeah I think I’ve been to one once or twice.” Wrestling is a sport that takes dedication, discipline, and hard work and is considered one of the hardest sports to play.
I then asked Hayden Rudolph “What are your thoughts on the winter sports coming up” Hayden replied “I never had any interest in winter sports, although, I have a small interest in basketball because it can get exciting how close games can be. Other than that I have no further comment.” Hayden has a good point when stating that basketball games can get close because they sure do.
