San Jose’s Chicken Fight!

By: Alan Corona and Veronica Corona

SAN JOSE, CALIF—With 2025 quickly approaching, Raising Cane’s and Chick-fil-A are opening near Silver Creek High School, but there is only room for one favorite.

Chick-fil-A and Cane’s are two very popular fast food restaurants among people of all ages. Both restaurants are known for their delicious chicken, whether in the form of sandwiches or classic chicken fingers. To determine which is ultimately better, we will compare menu items, form opinions based on taste and conclude. The new Chick-fil-A location will be in the Silver Creek Road Target parking lot. The new Raisng Can’es will be located in the Evergreen Pl by Costco.

Currently, Chick-fil-A seems more popular because we don’t have Raising Cane’s in our area where people can regularly eat as compared to Chick-fil-A which you can get every day.

Raising Canes — Veronica Corona

Raising Canes’s menu may not be big, but it is big in flavor. They offer a two, three, four, and six chicken finger combo which comes with the fingers, fries, sauce, toast, and coleslaw. The only different menu item they offer is a sandwich which only excludes coleslaw. The chicken is hot, crispy and tender and the Raising Cane’s sauce that you get with it brings an explosion of flavor to every bite. “They got that good secret sauce that lathers up my tongue every time I eat it and it makes me feel good.” Jason Tu said. Another menu item that is raved about is their warm buttery Texas toast. Their toast is big and full of buttery goodness whereas Chick-fil-A has no toast at all.

Chick-fil-A — Alan Corona

To start, Chick-fil-A has more variety when it comes to their menu unlike Raising Cane’s. The menu includes their famous chicken sandwich, salads, nuggets, wraps, and breakfast options.“It has way more options and there’s not limited options such as bread, tenders, and one type of sauce.”-Reign Ilusorio. Raising Cane’s only focuses on chicken tenders, meaning the menu is very limited. To add, Chick-fil-A typically has higher quality chicken with the texture and flavor. The chicken is fresh, and the breading is often crisper and lighter. That makes their chicken better.

Chick-fil-A is known for its customer service with the “My pleasure” attitude from the staff and the friendliness. While Raising Cane’s also has friendly service, many people feel that Chick-fil-A goes above and beyond in terms of customer care and overall dining experience. And not to mention that Chick-fil-A has more locations than Raising Cane’s.

The number of locations Chick-fil-A has doesn’t make it better-tasting. Even with the nearest Raising Cane’s being an hour away, people are still willing to travel that far because they know that Raising Cane’s is worth it.

Ultimately, Chick-fil-A can be seen as our winner for now, but with Raising Cane’s now being within reasonable distance people will now have a fair chance to determine which is truly better.
