With the 2024 box office filled with record-breaking films and rising stars, the countless costume ideas to choose from are more diverse than ever. Matching costume trends from previous years are seemingly returning this year. From niche characters to the latest pop culture hits our students are excited to share their input and creativity with you!

Every year, I dress up on Halloween if I have the time. Some of my previous years’ costumes included Yor Forger from Spy x Family and Hu Tao from Genshin Impact. This year, I’m excited to be Ubel from the anime Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End. Halloween is my favorite holiday because it offers a unique expression of self through fashion! It’s also a time to enjoy the company of friends and family while indulging in candy. Every year, I always anticipate the newest couple or matching costumes, they’re always my favorite type of costumes to see.

In a Google Form, many Silver Creek Raiders shared their similar perspective of Halloween as an opportunity to dress up and have fun with friends and family. A common highlight was the students’ passion for the free candy during this time. They also expressed costumes they are anticipating to see, like, Godzilla, a Chipotle burrito, jellyfish and just cosplays in general. Overall, there was a strong sense of excitement about participating in Halloween this year!

Halloween, celebrated annually on Oct. 31st is a vibrant holiday celebrated by people all around the globe. Although its origins are traced back to the ancient Celtic festivals, it’s mainly considered an American holiday. Today, the traditions include dressing up, going trick-or-treating, carving pumpkins, and enjoying spooky movies. The best part about Halloween is that it’s welcome to all ages; you’re never too young or old to have fun!

Emery Luu, a senior, expressed excitement about the upcoming holiday by summing it up with the phrase “Spooky season is fashion season.” Luu shares her enthusiasm for dressing up during this time of the year and the fun it brings! She highlights the artistic and creative aspect of the holiday that I’m sure many of us, including me appreciate. From creepy to cute, Halloween is a time to express your interests through your costumes!
