A couple of minutes into the second half a fire erupted on the other side of the fence towards the back. Firetrucks arrived at scene
The firefighters had it all under control and the game resumed after about ten minutes. No one was injured and everything went back to normal as if nothing happened. Sophomore Jorge Corona who plays defense on the team was asked how he felt about the situation and he provided some unique insight.
When asked how he felt when he saw the fire he said, “I was shocked there was a fire because it was out of the blue and that has never happened in one of my games before.” When asked if he thought pausing the game was necessary considering it was a small fire away from the field. “Yes because you never know what can happen next, it can spread very fast or something might cause an explosion. We didn’t know what was back there and how the fire would react to it.”
Besides that unexpected event, the rest of the game went uninterrupted and the Raiders added another victory to their 3-0 record with a 42-0 victory against San Jose and kept the undefeated streak alive.
