SAN JOSE, CALIF. –– As you step into your senior year at Silver Creek, a world of opportunities and challenges awaits, this final stretch is crucial for academic success, personal growth, and unforgettable memories. Here is my experience as a graduating senior!
As I near the end of my final year here at Silver Creek, I can’t help but become emotional and reminisce back to my underclassmen years. Starting the first four years off as a face on Zoom classes, barely getting an education, to ending it off with more academic success than I would’ve thought.
Regarding classes, I have never taken an AP class in my entire life. I’ve heard from friends that they aren’t too bad, depending on teachers of course, and that you should take at least one! With choosing your classes for senior year, make sure to keep it a bit chill since you dealt with a lot junior year, like AP tests, SATs, state testing, etc. You will not have the energy senior year to do anything. Senioritis is a real thing!
You might not want to participate in any clubs, sports, or anything related to the school, which is completely fine. I will be graduating with no club stoles or cords as I did not in participation with anything in the school except for sports one year plus yearbook and journalism electives. Those stoles or cords do not define you as a person and never will, they do not tie to your worthiness. They are just pieces of fabric that people earned for being a little more involved than you.
Friendships and relationships will either last or dissolve over time, unfortunately. You will eventually have to go through experiences that will hurt you deeply, but you will get over it and blossom from it. There will be times when you will have to take accountability, even if it was not your fault. Times where you will be at fault, but to be a better person you will have to accept the fact that you did that and grow from it. The good thing is though, a lifetime-long friendship could be made in high school and you’ll grow old together, which is a beautiful thing.
Overall, you want your senior year to be the most “relaxing” year of your four years here. You’ll most likely have a job, senior events and activities, and college decisions to deal with, which is already too much to handle. Remember to breathe, have fun, and make the most of this year, it will be the best year of your high school career.
