SAN JOSE, CALIF.— Dylan Amaro, a graduating senior, shares his high school journey through his 4 years of high school.
He started off high school in the midst of the corona virus pandemic. Because of the lockdown orders of school, he had to navigate through the struggles of online high school. Like lots of students that year, Amaro was disinterested and didn’t pay attention. He found the online model very distracting. It was the worst year of his life.
Sophomore year brought him back. “Sophomore year was a massive improvement. My grades were a lot better.” Amaro even tried out for basketball, which although he didn’t get in, he found a lot of fun. He had fun being back in person and making new friends. He started paying more attention in his classes, and passed all his classes with good grades.
Junior year and Senior year were even better for Amaro. “I think my biggest accomplishment is just graduating this year”. He tried hard in his classes and improved on his grades. One of these classes is journalism, where he has written many articles for the Raider Review journalism, as a staff member. Some of his topics include topics like: a student entrepreneur here at Silver Creek, what the students at Silver Creek are watching, or the benefits of going to Saturday School.
Even after getting cut from basketball, Amaro often plays basketball in his free time. “That’s the only thing I do for fun, sometimes I will play with some friends,” he says. He also enjoys playing video games, mostly from the “2K” series of sports video games, and the game “Call of Duty: Warzone”. After High School, he plans to go to the nearby Evergreen community college and work hard to be a transfer student to a bigger university. All in all, Dylan Amaro has always improved himself, and strives to be his best going into his adulthood.
