SAN JOSE, CALIF.— Never before seen footage and tapes of our Nickelodeon childhood stars who suffered under the abuse of ex- director Dan Schneider.

“Quiet On Set” was released on Max on March 17. The four-episode season has since gained more than 20 million views. The documentary has several previous child actors who were in All That, Zoey 101, and Drake and Josh, including the only two female writers on set. 

Giovonnie Samuels and Bryan Hearne from All That spoke on their experience of being on set and also being the only two black people. They also talked about how they always felt the need to go along with Schneiders inappropriate jokes that were written in the show. 

Many suggestive jokes included pickle boy; a character that would have no significance and appear to give the characters pickles. The documentary chose to also show a disturbing video of pop star Ariana Grande who was supposed to get “juice” out of a potato. Many viewers were upset at all these adult jokes that were meant for a show supposed to be l for children. 

What was mainly a shock for viewers when the directors told the interviewees that a child actor had gotten sexually assaulted. Drake Bell made an appearance to talk about his assault from Brian Beck, a vocal coach for Nickelodeon. “I was utterly heartbroken and in complete shock when Drake Bell appeared on the screen. It makes us think twice about our favorite childhood shows and how much we were oblivious to” said Jessica Martinez, a senior Silver Creek student who watched the documentary. 

There were many reference videos that were taken from Schneider himself where he can be seen making the cast uncomfortable and creating an eerie atmosphere by always yelling and insinuating inappropriate content. Schneider has since released an apology video through an interview. 

A New episode aired this week on April 8 discussing more on the impact of the show since its initial release. Many viewers will have seen an inside look on how the former actors were chosen to speak out and more on the impact it had on them.
