SAN JOSE, CALIF.— Gurshaan Pannu, a senior at Silver Creek High School highlights what led to his interest in pursuing a career in the business world.
Growing up in San Jose, Gurshaan grew up with his parents and older brother. He first started getting interested in business in middle school by his dad’s work.
“I came home one day and just asked my dad what he did for work because I had never really questioned it before. He then told me to pull up a chair and walked me through a summary of it all over the course of 2 hours. I don’t think I’ve ever listened that attentively to someone speak. ” After talking to his dad, Pannu knew then and there that he wanted to do something related to business and finance in the future. Over the course of the next few years, Pannu would help his dad with work in his free time, while growing his interest and knowledge of business.

That growing interest transitioned to High school, where Pannu took a few business classes, specifically Intro to Business, Accounting, and Economics. He had some ups and downs in those courses, but he remained determined to learn from them. When I first met Pannu earlier this year, he told me he applied to a variety of different schools. Schools like UC Irvine, UC Santa Cruz, and Chico State. He applied to these colleges because he felt that they had good business programs. After High School, Pannu plans to attend De Anza College for two years, and then transfer to UC Irvine or Santa Cruz to major in Business Information.
