Phung made a choice to embrace a new challenge by joining the Silver Creek Lion Dancing Club (LDC). This decision had him going through challenges, requiring him to quickly learn the art of lion dancing within a short period to qualify for a performance at Silver Creek High School’s Winterfest.
Phung shared his motivation, saying, “I pretty much joined the LDC club because the classes I took this year were relatively easy and didn’t require much outside of school work. As some of my friends are in this club, I took this opportunity as a chance to possibly meet new people and make new friends. The club took a ton of dedication and after-school practice so it really kept me busy throughout the days up until Winterfest where I could put the skills I learned into the spotlight.”
Reflecting on his past years at Silver Creek High School, Phung noted, “To be honest, I feel like compared to my other years, this year has been much more interesting due to the lack of activities I’ve done before. So far, I’m having quite a bit of fun this year.”
Phung’s ability to balance school work and extracurriculars is due to his classes being fairly easy for him. They don’t take much of his time outside of school, which leaves him lots of free time during the day.
Phung’s optimistic nature comes from his leisure moments. In his free time, he explores job opportunities in the area, his sole purpose is to gain future work experience and money. With prior work experience, Phung is confident in acquiring a job.
Phung’s journey through his senior year, his optimism, adaptability, and personal development. As he continues the challenges of quickly adapting to different clubs and the journey of new experiences, Phung remains looking for new opportunities for anything.
