SAN JOSE, CALIF.—Going to Saturday School is important because students get the chance to turn in missing assignments and make up for their absences. There isn’t a worse feeling than missing an assignment you know you could’ve done on time.
Some assignments also heavily impact your grade and turning them in late or not doing them at all could make or break your grade. And if you are late to class or absent on a regular basis, you can be taken to court. This is because the school makes money with you being here, and if you are absent the school loses money. The school can afford for you to miss a few days, but if you start to miss a big bulk of days then they will start to lose money. They can take your parents to court, or you if you are 18.
Saturday school also encourages discipline and committment among students. Students that go to school to make up their missing assignments or absences, show that they are committed to and care about their work. Students can more successfully balance their schoolwork when Saturday school takes the place of scheduling issues that come up throughout the week from extracurricular activities or when they have work. You will also be able to get some breakfast at the school when Saturday school is over for the day.

Although Saturday School has its advantages, it is important to remember to turn in all your work on time and attend classes. I know from experience that turning in assignments late or not turning them in at all really messes up your grade. “Some teachers will offer you the chance to make up assignments for full points.” said Eliana Munoz, a senior at Silver Creek.
