Growing up and seeing a lot of her family work in the medical field, De Leon was inspired and passionate to do the same as them. “When I see my family work and help out people, it really made me realize that I wanted to do the same.”, she says, reflecting on the deep-seated motivation that ignited her passion for nursing at a young age. Her family’s influence played a significant role in shaping her career aspirations, instilling in her a sense of purpose and fulfillment in helping others.

Once De Leon got older, she thought about her future career. Being interested in the medical field, she decided to take steps toward pursuing a career in nursing. As a senior in SVCTE, she embarked on her journey early, taking advantage of opportunities to gain experience and knowledge.

Currently engaged in a medical assistant internship, she is gaining valuable hands-on experience in the medical field. Her plan includes becoming a traveling nurse for a couple of years after completing her internship and then pursuing further education at her future college, where she aims to enroll in programs to help her. With her sights set on becoming a registered nurse, De Leon aspires to specialize in areas such as operating room nursing or emergency room nursing, driven by a fascination with the intricacies of these environments.

In sharing her experiences and aspirations, De Leon offers valuable advice to young students aspiring to pursue a career in healthcare.“Keep going and don’t think you aren’t able to do it because there are a lot of resources and help out there for everybody.”, she emphasizes. Through her determination and hard work, and the remaining time she has left in high school, De Leon hopes to make a meaningful impact in the field of nursing and contribute to the well-being of others.
