SAN JOSE, CALIF. –  Fernanda Aguilar shares with us her interesting backstory about her love for soccer and her time on SCHS’s soccer team.

Aguilar’s love for the sport commonly known around the world as futbol, began around 7 years ago when she asked her dad if she could sign up for soccer. Aguilar first went on a club session with MVLA from 2018-2019, but eventually moved onto school soccer for two years and continued on to high-school. She felt sad about leaving all of her soccer friends in middle school, but she says that her high-school soccer team is way more fun.

She used to play outside of the school team for MLVA but unfortunately due to an injury with her femur breaking her femur she had to stop playing for some time. After the injury settled down she went back into playing soccer at Leyva Middle School. Playing for a school soccer team allowed her to meet new people. The team bonding sessions that they had allowed her to be closer together with the team.

“It’s pretty hard managing sports and schoolwork after practice. I have to do a lot and sometimes I feel like I’m lagging behind, but that might just be me.”, says Aguilar, when we asked her if school and sports can be tough to manage. She advises students who want to do sports to manage your time and to not let the things that happen outside of school affect how you play.
