SAN JOSE, CALIF. — Todd and Katrina Seal both teach in the English department at Silver Creek High School, let’s ask the Seals how they’ve been managing their 13-year-long relationship!

Tied from an invisible string, two English teachers who unexpectedly met at Silver Creek High School, have now been working together for 26 years and married for 13. The spark that flies between them makes their relationship one of a kind.
They first started working at Creek in 1997 and 1998 and were both offered an opportunity to teach English in the middle of the year. In the beginning, they were always around each other during lunches with the other English teachers and didn’t really get to know each other until they settled in Creek for a couple of years. As time went by, Mrs. Seal was drawn to Mr. Seal’s funny personality and gathered the confidence to approach him first. After their first talk, the two had gotten closer and began their relationship in 2009!
Being with your partner all day, every day can be exhausting, draining, or boring for some. But for the Seals, it is the opposite. “It feels great! Our bond is stronger because we both teach high school students and at the same school. We truly understand each other’s job and work as a team,” said Mrs. Seal.
Despite working together, they only see each other during lunchtime because of their clashing schedules. And in turn, only builds anticipation for their special time together.
People can say that they were destined to meet, they understand one another so well and they can recognize when one needs space. And when both are ready to talk they communicate their wants and needs to figure out a common ground.
Since the two both teach English they’re able to collaborate on their ideas and have an excuse to spend more time together. Mr. Seal says, “We compare lesson plans to balance things out and we can work together.”
The Seals have come a long way to make their dynamic work, do you think you’ll be able to be around your partner 24/7?
