SANJOSE, CALIF.- The summer of 2024 is around the corner and many students are in search of places to work to stay productive throughout the break. With Raging Waters closing in the summer of 2023 which was a popular place for students to work, many are questioning where they will work next. This upcoming summer some of the most popular places to work will be retail and fast food restaurants. With minimum wages for fast food places being raised to twenty dollars an hour, due to a mandatory bill signed my Gavin Newsom predicted that these jobs will be taken fast. Applying early for these jobs may land you a spot working there. Some of the fast food places near Silver Creek High School are Wendys, Popeyes, Subway, and Little Caesars. Most of the available positions are cashier and preparatory positions. It is to note that fast food restaurants 

tend to hire employees that are more available throughout the week. If you are a social person and can handle multiple tasks at once, working in a fast food setting may be a good fit for you. Iff you plan on taking summer courses or playing summer sports or aren’t very social you may want to consider working in a retail store.

Silver Creek is located near retail stores such as Sprouts, Target and Walmart.

These places tend to hire workers only 16 years or older. They offer more flexible schedules and are best suited for people who intend to do summer school or sports. The workload of retail places seems to be less stressful than that of a fastfood place. Walmart hires more than places such as Target and Spouts. The Walmart located at evergreen village square is currently hiring cashiers and maintenance workers. These jobs will be a good place for incoming seniors to work at. All positions that are available at retail locations can be applied through online on their company website. 

Applying for these job is simple. Most information will be simple such as Name and date of birth along with current residency and education level. Once you have submitted your application you will most likely receive an email about a potential interview for the job. Usually during the interview process they will ask you about your preferred days to work. It’s important to state any day you may need during the week consistently. Once the interview has finished they will usually tell you then if you are hired. Once you have been hired you will need to provide a workers permit that is signed by both the employer and the school. Once you have turned that into you work place you are ready to work.
