SAN JOSE, CALIF.— Silver Creek Highschool’s elective fair is finally here with various courses that students can choose from. The event was held on Jan. 24 inside Raider Hall during lunch for all students!
The start of a new school year is coming up very soon and students will be able to choose their classes for this next year. The elective fair is an encouraging event where students are able to discover and find new interests of their own. Some options that we have include Visual & Performing Arts, World Languages, English, Social Sciences, Business, Physical and others.
Raider Hall was filled all around with all these different and even some new courses like Ethnic Studies, In which it concentrates on the multidisciplinary subjects of the relationships that African Americans, Native Americans, Latina/o/x, and Asian Americans face in the United States.

A Sophomore who was present at the event said, “It was exciting getting the chance to visualize my options that I want to pick and even getting to engage with some of my possible future teachers. I’m glad I chose to attend and I feel more prepared knowing what I want to pick now for this year.”
Some of the stands had a strategy where they gave out some treats, posters, and flyers in an attempt to draw the people’s attention by walking there and checking it out. Pretty clever! Other stands had current students interacting with others to persuade and motivate them into joining a class.
Overall, the elective fair seemed like a very enjoyable event for all students and teachers. But more importantly the experience it gave students helping explore their interests even further as well as prepare them to make well-informed decisions on the classes they’d plan on taking.
