SAN JOSE, CALIF. — Wish your friends or a special someone a Happy Valentine’s Day through sending out a song-gram!
Although Valentine’s Day is commonly advertised as a holiday for couples, it’s really to celebrate all types of relationships that involve love, whether it’s to a parent, a grandparent, a friend or a significant other.
Sending out a song-gram can really brighten up someone’s day. The thought of a loved one conveying their feelings of appreciation through melody can be such a special feeling. And spreading endearment is what this day is all about.
Singing Valentine Grams has been an ongoing tradition for Silver Creek and it doesn’t intend to end, especially with Simone Horne’s choir being so passionate for music! Typically choir students voluntarily sing for the grams, and a bonus for them is they get to choose the songs for this day of love.
The president of choir, Alberto Montes De Oca, is the most experienced member who has participated as one of the passionate volunteers for three years now. De Oca, a senior at Creek says, “I really like doing the Valentine Grams because it’s fun and I get to sing throughout the day. A highlight I’d say is we all get closer [doing the Valentine’s Grams] because we practice together and so it’s a lot of fun.”
Choir members greatly praised De Oca’s teaching and communication skills, like said from Lizbeth Rocha, “Alberto will teach us how to amplify our voices and help us get better.”
And although nervousness has been an obstacle before performing in front of others, the choir students still push through to make sure the grams are as special and great as the person that is receiving it.
So don’t be shy and take a chance to make someone you care about know they are loved by filling out the Valentine’s Gram form! Purchasing a gram would only cost $5 to drop off at Horne’s band room in X-2.
With Love,
