SAN JOSE, CALIF. — Drew Jaggi is the new science teacher at Silver Creek High School. With science being the core of freshmen and sophomore classes, he hopes to bring his experience from Evergreen Valley High School to brand new students.

Jaggi practices the idea of giving more than he takes and surrounding himself with selflessness, like-minded individuals. With his passion for understanding the complexities of the natural world, he seeks to bring that same curiosity and passion within students. 

Having experience from Evergreen Valley High School, Jaggi is known for his  dedication to create meaningful connections with students. His approach focuses on boundaries, focusing on engagement and empowerment rather than traditional note-taking. Jaggi likes to create fun games and activities for them to engage in learning, and makes labs in order for them to connect and interact with one another and share a fun learning experience.

Utilizing digital tools like Pear Deck, Jaggi ensures that every student’s voice is heard and valued. By providing a feature on Pear Deck, anonymous participation, he creates a safe space for students to navigate challenges and embrace growth without fear of judgment from their peers. 

Outside of the classroom, Jaggi has a variety of interests and hobbies. He likes to play video games, watch anime, as well as doing fun activities like poker and skateboarding. He emphasizes the importance of balance in his work life and outside life, as well as self-care.  

Jaggi believes in a well-rounded approach to education that goes beyond just grades. Reflecting on his approach to teaching, Jaggi states, “I want students to see themselves as more than a letter on a paper. I also want them to prove to themselves that they can do hard things.” Jaggi wants them to focus on personal growth and resilience, seeing themselves as capable of overcoming challenges and making a difference.

Jaggi’s background in Biology with a minor in Chemistry brings a wealth of knowledge to our classrooms. With his expertise, he can make science more engaging and relevant to students. Understanding these subjects can help us appreciate the world around us better and even spark our curiosity to explore further. Jaggi’s strong spirit and unwavering dedication show what a great teacher he is, always inspiring and helping us to be better.
