SAN JOSE,CALIF — The Silver Creek High Schoo’s Boys Volleyball team will host tryouts starting on January 29. Then they will prepare each team for their first match on February 13.
As the season approaches in the next two weeks, tryouts will start on Monday, January 29 at 8:30 P.M to 10:00 P.M. Tryouts are in two day segments allowing athletes to have a day of recovery, starting from January 29 to February 12 with times ranging from 6:00 A.M to as late as 10:00 P.M. The day after tryouts is the first match of the season. Since it’s still early the match schedule has not been released.

If you’re nervous about trying out for the team, volleyball player Anthony Do has some tips to say, “Try not to be nervous and if you’re trying out, try to play actual games to get yourself ready for it because playing on the court can make you really nervous and having some experience can really help you.”
Once the season starts practices will be everyday except Fridays from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. Make sure to train hard at practice to perform better at games. Like John Calipari said, “Practice gotta be harder than the games and it never is unless you want it to be as a player.”
As for team bonding the team would go out to restaurants and enjoy a meal together. Other than that there really isn’t much team bonding besides having your friend group. Join the team and make friends with lots of new people you haven’t met before.
If you enjoy Haikyuu,a highschool volleyball anime about a team striving to become the greatest. And if that’s what got you interested in the sport. You’re not alone because Anthony Do said that “I was watching Haikyuu back in 8th grade which is about a middle school volleyball player who goes on a high school team developing his volleyball skills through watching others while being short himself as a disadvantage.Watching the anime was really exciting and really inspired me to play volleyball. Looking back at it now I find it really embarrassing but what I find really interesting is that the year haikyuu came out is when volleyball peaked in players that year.”
