Nearing the End of the Season: Boys Soccer

SAN JOSE, CALIF — With the end of the season coming up, let’s check in with the Silver Creek High School Boys soccer teams.

The SCHS Boys soccer program started in November, with tryouts and their preseason games. Now about half way into the season, let’s see how both teams are doing. The varsity team is doing well with their overall record being 7-8-2 (wins-loss-draw) and the JV team going 2-5-1 so far this season.

The varsity team is 3-3-2 so far in the season, sitting second in their league. With the Raiders only defeat coming against Pioneer High School, the team is looking strong at this point in the season.. Their top goalscorer being Taylor Nguyen with nine goals and the joint most assists with Aaron Singh, having six each.

Meanwhile the JV boys have two wins and a tight loss against Overfelt High School but the Raiders are looking to bounce back to finish the season strong. Marc Sebastion is leading the team in assists and goals, but is tied with Collin Nguyen.

Let’s see what some of the players think of their performance. “The team is improving a lot since we started and we know we can do better,” says Jesse Lairos, freshmen on the JV team. With practices every day excluding Sundays, the Raiders have been working hard. “With a new team and only a few returning players, we have a lot of improvement.”

As the season concludes, come support the Raiders on Feb. 8 for Senior Night, to celebrate the graduating players against Oak Grove High School.
