Serrano is a very passionate and committed person, especially toward sports. “I love sports because it is a way for me to space out of other things current in my life and it helps me become more focused on the things I am more passionate about,” she exclaims.

While at SCHS, she decided to join two sports teams. During her Sophomore year, she joined both basketball and track & field. Serrano says, “I chose to play these two sports because I found a passion for participating in them. It fills me with joy”.

But how exactly did she find interest in playing these sports? Her dad is her biggest role model and she even says, “I want to follow his footsteps because I’ve always watched him play ball”. Serrano would always watch her dad play basketball. As she got older, she also grew a passion for the sports she’s currently playing.

One of her favorite basketball athletes is Stephen Curry. With her dad, she would watch basketball on the TV, which made her love this sport even more. She says, “I would consider Curry one of my favorites because of the way he plays. He is a great person and I know that he influences other people for their passion for basketball as well”. “He is the greatest shooter of all time!” Serrano exclaims.

Running as a sport wasn’t important to her when she was younger but until sophomore year, she wanted to join track. Her friends who were the same age or juniors at the time, convinced her to join the team. As time went on, she started to love it. Serrano then joined her junior year and is planning to join this year too!
