Hernandez has had a piqued interest in film and SFX makeup for about three years now. SFX is a method of creating realistic-looking illusions on camera using prosthetics and makeup. They often practice SFX and it has been a great form of distraction for them as well as a new passion. They hope to make a career out of this and go to an SFX school in Los Angeles, CA.
Painting with oil paints, doing line work, and realism are all forms of art that interest them as well. With this, they want to work behind the scenes on movie sets.
Hernandez says, “I feel like the film industry is really something I want to dive into. I hope my interest in art whether it’s SFX, digital art, or painting could get me somewhere. I also stay watching movies I’m not going to lie so I want to be behind the camera.”
Throughout Hernandez’s life, they have faced many challenges. They have suffered from several mental and physical problems that are hard to balance with everyday life. They explain that to see a substantial difference in your health you need to reach out for the help you deserve. It may be difficult to start taking care of yourself but after you get into the swing of things you will see positive impacts.
Hernandez says, “It’s hard but sometimes you gotta do what you don’t want to do so get out of bed, take that shower, and get to school.” On top of this, they say that they also make it a routine to watch their health and eating habits. Health is very important and is a big part of your life that you need to take care of.
Hernandez has gone through many changes during high school such as being at a new school nearly every year. Their freshman year was spent online, as were lots of ours, but they continued to do independent study during their sophomore year. They went to Overfelt High School junior year and is currently attending Silver Creek.
It is known that moving around during these years can be very difficult academically and relationship-wise. Hernadez handles this by adapting to being comfortable with being alone sometimes and accepting losing touch with people since there’s no guarantee that people will be in your life forever.
Their circumstance has impacted the way they make friends but expresses that in middle school they used to be quiet and shy. Because of that, it has given them a reason to really express themself now.
“I speak my mind now and I don’t bottle things up how I used to. I enjoy being funny and I find that oftentimes I’m not serious but I like that sporadic randomness about myself. Things don’t have to be all boring and black and white.”
