SAN JOSE, CALIF-.  On Oct. 6 2023 the new movie ‘The Exorcist: Believer’ was finally released and is now streaming in all movie theaters. 

Directed and co-written by David Gordon Green, The Exorcist: Believer has made a comeback for this spooky Halloween season with the newest release. This horror film has been captivating audiences with its storyline and scary jumpscares throughout the film.

The film is very known for its terrifying scenes and supernatural clips. Fans of the horror genre are loving it and say it’s ‘The scariest movie to be released this year so far.’’ The Exorcist is a classic well-known horror movie.

The movie sequels have been releasing since 1973 and based on true stories. The movie lasts for nearly 2 hours and follows the story of a young girl named Angela along with her friend Katherine who both disappear into the woods and come back 3 days later with no memory and possessed by demonic spirits with attempts of their mothers and priests trying to save them both. 

A student quotes “The movie overall was good, it has a lot of potential. I was expecting something more compelling like the old ones.The movie had too many characters with very little development so I didn’t really have a connection to anyone. Although it did follow a good storyline, the makeup and everything was done amazingly . The CGI wasn’t super overdone which made everything look super realistic and cool.’’

According to the director David Gordon Green, The Exorcist: Believer is essentially a continuation of the 1973 original series in which the remaining of the movies are a “fall into the acceptable mythology.’’

Father Gary Thomas who is a long time pastor in the diocese of San Jose personal experience served as the basis for the narrative. By using traditional exorcism methods Father Gary had to help a young woman in 2005 who seemed to be under the power of a demon. He also authored a book on other exorcism experiences.
