SAN JOSE, CALIF—. The “New Romantics” lyrics, “The rumors are terrible and cruel, but honey most of them are true,” defend their singer Taylor Swift yet again who has been rumored to be in a relationship with Travis Kelce since July. 

Swift has been through her share of relationships, some which have gone “down in flames” according to her song Blank Space. After her rise to fame through consistent sorrow, fans are ecstatic to see her “having some fun”. According to BuzzFeed, Kelce has literally been pointing arrows in Swift’s direction at his games. At an interview on the Pat McAfee show, Kelce openly said, “I threw the ball in her court. I told her, I’ve seen you rock a stage in Arrowhead and you might have to come see me rock the stage at Arrowhead. We’ll see what happens in the near future.” Swift evidently took him up on that offer attending Arrowhead Stadium on Sept. 24 to watch the Chiefs play the Bears. 

It all began when Kelce said, “If you’re up on Taylor Swift concerts, there are friendship bracelets and I received a bunch of them being there, but I wanted to give Taylor Swift one with my number on it,” after attending Swift’s concert in his home court coincidentally, in July.

His brother asked, “Your number as in 87, or your phone number,” to which Kelce said, “You know which one.” This instance, unsurprisingly made the headlines. Another tease at this featured the brothers filming a TikTok questioning players about their celebrity crushes. As you might guess, his teammate interrupted – Swift – before Kelce even got the time to respond, causing him to chuckle.

Referencing Swift in his podcast “New Heights” with his brother, Kelce said, “Shoutout to Taylor for pulling up, that was pretty ballsy! I just thought it was awesome how everybody in the suite had nothing but great things to say about her, the friends and family. She looked amazing. Everyone was talking about her in great light.” 

The pop stars are seemingly comfortable with being intimate with one another as they publicly displayed at the SNL afterparty on Oct. 15. According to Buzzfeed News, an eyewitness told People Magazine, “So they’re face-to-face, and then he takes both his hands and grabs her waist. They’re leaning in, they’re kissing each other.” As Swift was seizing the night, the source also said, “[Travis] kept going over to her and checking in” by “touching her, putting his hand on her lower back or putting his hands on her waist.”

The fans have continued to share their takes and memes across social media. According to NBC News, “Swift is a record-breaking musician at the height of her fame this year, and Kelce is a two-time Super Bowl champion, so it’s unsurprising that it would be difficult for them to get to know each other privately.” Silver Creek junior and fan Laurel Gonzalez similarly says, “I think that it’ll definitely show in her next songs, and a lot of eyes will be on her since her and Travis are such public figures.”
