Style and fashion, being a huge trend at Silver Creek, has inspired many young students in the school to try different styles and even make up their own. Angela Ramos sticks out in the crowd with her different styles, her outward intake of music, and how it inspires her. “Although my friends dress vastly differently than I do, it was with their support that I managed to be comfortable enough with trying new styles,” she said.

“During my junior year, I visited the local Goodwill every week, and eventually, I began finding things I liked and forced myself to come up with outfits; over time it became much easier to see something and know I could style it with what I had in my closet,” Ramos said. She promotes sustainable fashion, only shopping second-hand, and even sharing clothes with your mom or dad!

Listening to a lot of rap and hip-hop with the occasional alternative rock growing up, her style was relatively shown through her clothing later in her life. She never liked fashion growing up yet as she grew older, she saw trends and people that dressed the way she wanted to. Naturally, she became very drawn to fashion in her middle school and early high school years, which broadened her interest and extended her creativity for building outfits. “I hope when people see me they know I am confident and that adds to my look. Also, I want to give off the vibe I have good music taste- that’s probably what I care about most,” Ramos says.

Currently, Ramos’s favorite artists to listen to are Vein.fm or Deftones. The genres of those bands range from hardcore punk to alternative metal. By listening to metal, hardcore, and gothic music, Ramos gravitated to darker and different alternative styles of clothing.

“Being able to enjoy music of all different kinds of sound has truly given me a much deeper emotional bridge to music – I think music overall has added to my confidence as a person and the security of my identity,” She says.

Ramos is also a hugely talented artist and has made many drawings in the past few years. Her drawings stem from her musical interests as well, drawing artists or even her family and friends. She loves to not only paint and draw but also go on road trips with her family, go to vintage clothing expos, and thrift, be around her friends and family, and lead the Aztec Dance Club at Silver Creek!

To inspire and influence others, Ramos wants to recommend other music artists she loves right now, “My current favorite genre is probably alternative metal, and some bands I think aren’t talked about enough are Blanket, Thornhill and Sleep Token. Some songs are Enjoy by Fleshwater, Romance (feat. Gost) by Blanket and Vore by Sleep Token. If you enjoy nu metal I recommend: Get Up Again by Flaw. Lastly, some hardcore songs I grew to love are Billy No Mates by Knocked Loose, Heretic+ by Vein.fm, Kiss the Sky by Love Gun, and Weak Die First by Sunami,” Ramos says.
