5 Underrated Starbucks Drinks You Need to Try

By Priya Ramamurthy

SAN JOSE, CALIF.— Starbucks is a great way to switch up your daily routine so here are five original drinks to try if you’re getting bored of the old classics, fellow students of Silver Creek.

For Harry Potter fans, the Butterbeer Frappuccino is a must-try on the Starbucks Secret Menu. This Secret Menu drink is such a delight and guaranteed to hook someone for another round! For a grande (regular size) drink, the Butterbeer Frappuccino can be made as a Creme Frappuccino base with three pumps of caramel and toffee nut syrup each, in a cup lined with caramel drizzle and finally topped with a caramel drizzle. This drink caught my eye on the Starbucks Secret Menu in 5th grade — just around the time I finished the entire Harry Potter Series. I knew the urge to try it would be irresistible, and my quest for satisfaction was granted.

The Apple Crisp Oatmilk Frappuccino is featured on the Starbucks regular menu and an absolute gem. It’s truly a seasonal delight for apple and cinnamon lovers as well as vegans – when made without the whipped cream. It’s the perfect drink to get you into the high Fall spirits. I came upon this drink when searching for a fall alternative to the Pumpkin Spice Creme Frappuccino when it couldn’t be made vegan, and was not disappointed. The burst of flavors that immediately rushed to my tastebuds spoke to my mind and soul. This is truly a fall favorite to cherish.

The Pumpkin Spice Creme Frappuccino is a fall classic featured on the regular menu and a must try for those who aren’t already familiar with the masterpiece. The creme version of the frap is a decaffeinated creamy pumpkin drink that absolutely hits the spot for those who crave pumpkin or cinnamon this time of year. The caffeinated counterpart – the Pumpkin Spice Frappuccino – resonates with coffee lovers.

Another delicious work of art is the Pink Drink with whipped cream. A treat for my Fridays for years, this drink pulled me through a boatload of hard days. The pink drink alone is enough to lighten the mood and a wicked combination with whipped cream.

Silver Creek student Alex Handsel enjoys the Vanilla Bean Frappacuino with a caramel drizzle and a banana blended in. “I think it’s a good drink. The banana levels out the sweetness,” he says. It’d be an innovative drink for Silver Creek students to try and rank. Happy drinking raiders! Tis the fall festivities!
