SAN JOSE, CALIF. — Sarah Sun is a graduating senior for the class of 2023, she has many memories and experiences to share as well as tips for upcoming and current students of Silver Creek.
Sarah advocates for newer and current students to join the schools clubs and be active in the community events because having a connection with other students and teachers makes you want to show up to school and have a good time. Sarah had trouble with senioritis but because of her friends she managed to bounce back on school and she is grateful to the community for that.
But on the other hand she cautions people to not let in to what others think of you, as she regrets declining opportunities because she was caught up in the opinions of others and not doing what she truly wants to do. That’s why she admires and advocates for others to do what they truly want in the face of adversary.
Sarah also recommends that students should take clubs that they actually enjoy and have passion for, because taking clubs only to improve your transcript could make you burnt out and not enjoy your time at school. She thinks that you should enjoy your years at high school as much as possible because only in high school do you have the opportunity to hang out with your friends and enjoy yourself nearly everyday as opposed to going to college and being busy afterwards.
Sarah’s favorite year was her senior year of high school, she got to enjoy the year with the best people she could spend it with and made the best memories that she would cherish. This was thanks to her becoming more confident in herself allowing her the opportunity to have such a great senior year. She is also grateful to her niece, because of her she has gotten closer to her family which made her personal life much more enjoyable. (and to say that she’s really cute!)
She would miss high school dearly as going to school was routine and planned, while her future is nerve-racking because she’ll have to be on her own for college.
But she’ll always remember when one of her teachers told her that high school is just a small phase of her life and shouldn’t impede on her future, and when she becomes an adult and be on her own she’ll have a lot more to look forward to in her life.
Sarah’s favorite class was Econ with Mr. Richards, she recommends people to take the class as he was great at teaching and lecturing while connecting with students to make the class enjoyable without students being burnt out.
After highschool for the summer she is planning to go back to Vietnam to spend time with her family, although she’ll miss the summer with her friends she could see her family in Vietnam again.
For college she is going for general education in SJSU and major in medicine or science. And after that she is going to travel around before she settle down on her permanent job.
For her farewell she hopes that all the students of Silver Creek High School will enjoy their years to the best they can.
