SAN JOSE, CALIF.— High school is scary to say the least. You are in your prime teenage years, trying to figure out a small fraction of who you THINK you want to be. While juggling with the stress of assignments that teachers say determine what future you’ll have. As you are developing your social skills. It’s a lot and high schoolers don’t get the credit we deserve.
There’s a lot of things we think we need to be focusing on throughout our high school career, such as friends, peers, and school. A lot of it seems like the end of the world if it doesn’t go your way the first time. Like if the friends you thought were gonna be with you forever, don’t make it past sophomore year, or if your crush never even looks at you. All that “life ending” things are really all white noise. It’s important don’t get me wrong, but don’t put all your energy into other people and distract yourself from whats really important to you, whatever that may be.
Highschool shouldn’t be a whirl wind of fomo and stress. It should be about focusing on yourself and trying to find out who you want to be. Don’t chase people, have the mind set “if it will be it will be”, especially in the social aspect. Focus on your classes but don’t let it consume you. Don’t waste the four years being drowned by assignments with the fear of not getting into college. There are so much more choices to do after highschool. Focus on your hobbies and things you actually enjoy doing.
