The Life of a Chemistry Teacher: Mr. Vu

SAN JOSE, CALIF. – Quang Vu is a science teacher at SIlver Creek. When he’s not teaching science to his students, you can see him coaching badminton. 

Vu was born in Kien Long, Vietnam. He went to the University of California, in Santa Cruz and is now an alumni. 

He teaches chemistry and AP Environmental Science at Silver Creek High School. He’s a badminton coach due to his years in University playing the sport. His classroom is located at H building close to the U-Quad at H-8.

Back in 2013, he began as a Financial Affairs intern. The internship ended in June of 2014. Since then, he began his career as a teacher in 2016 until now. Making his time teaching 6 years long, almost seven years, just one more month!

During his time as an intern, he produced videos adding content and managed the Zero Waste webpage. 

He spent his time in the University of California majoring in environmental studies. He was in the Vietnamese Student Association and enjoyed playing Badminton, which he now coaches.

During his free time, he enjoys traveling and hanging out with his homies. As Vu said before, “If you don’t have time to do it the first time, when do you have time to do it right the next time?” 

He enjoys exploring new restaurants but his favorite food at the moment is hotpot. Prior to this interview, he enjoyed his moms pho. Not only does he enjoy playing badminton, but he also loves playing pickleball. During his day off, he plays video games and likes spending his time in escape rooms. He can speak both Vietnamese and English.
