SAN JOSE, CALIF. — Silver Creek senior, Sophia Rojas, has accomplished many things in her past four years of high school and will continue to strive in her college years!
Sophia Rojas is a hardworking and busy senior who has lots of things to keep track of and little time. She says she keeps track of all her work by writing them down in her planner and checking each one off as she goes. When school gets tough, Rojas says she likes to relieve stress by listening to music and painting.
Rojas says her biggest role model would have to be her mom because of the constant support she receives from her. “She’s always been there for me and is always encouraging me to do the things I want to do.” In college next year, Rojas is most excited to start her own journey and live on her own without her parents. Rojas plans on getting her own apartment in college and is excited to learn how to become independent. In college, Rojas wants to study interior design because it’s always been a passion of hers. She discovered her passion for interior design because of her love for decorating and rearranging her room.
With college decisions coming back, Rojas was very certain about wanting to go to NYU! She says it’s always been a dream of hers to live in New York so it’s definitely something to keep in mind when making the big decision. As for her favorite high school memories, Rojas says she has loved making new friends along the past four years and can’t wait to make more in college. Rojas advice to underclassmen would be to not stress about high school too much and take time to enjoy being a teenager because adulthood comes with a lot more responsibilities.
With all her responsibilities, Rojas has made sure to squeeze time in for relaxing and de-stressing. She says her favorite music to listen to is R & B. She especially likes listening to SZA and her new album “SOS.” Rojas favorite pastime is reading, “My most common pastime activity I would say is reading. I feel like it calms me down, especially when I am stressed. I also really like going to Barnes & Noble and just walking around finding new books.” She also loves to paint and is most proud of the Bob Ross painting she created after following a tutorial.
As for sports, Rojas most enjoys softball which she played for 8 years. Personality-wise, Rojas is more than what meets the eye. “I would say I’m more outgoing than people see me as. A lot of the time people tend to say I’m shy but when they get to know me I tend to be more outgoing and talk a lot more. People often perceive me as a quiet and secluded person and I would perceive myself as goofy and a major family person.
Rojas’ favorite movie quote would have to be from the Disney movie, “The Lion King.” “The past can hurt, but the way I see it you can either run from it or learn from it.” Rojas says she especially loves this quote because it speaks volume to the choices you make in life, in other words, you’re always in charge of your past and future.
