SAN JOSE, CALIF. — Hillary Huynh is a freshman and treasurer for the class of 2026 at Silver Creek High School. Since elementary school, she’s had a passion for leadership and helping others.
During Huynh’s days at Holly Oak Elementary School, she would always volunteer and offer help to her teachers during her free time, whether it would be filing papers, organizing classrooms or helping grade and staple homework. Although no one forced her to do all these tasks, she did it voluntarily because she loves helping others and doing these types of tasks.
Helping her teachers manage the classroom also grew her love for leading, which is one of the main reasons why she enrolled in the Leadership class at her middle school, Leyva, and even ran and got the role of Treasurer. In the same year, she earned an award that recognizes her dedication and hard work throughout her 8th-grade year. All throughout middle school to now, Huynh has been enrolling in Leadership and will continue to do so.

She has been using the leadership skills she developed ever since elementary school to help her lead in high school. As a treasurer for her class of 2026, she has produced multiple profiting fundraisers and is a helping hand to her class and leadership. Huynh likes to even take it a step further and be part of the school’s activities. For example, Huynh is the freshman representative in the SCHS’s Interact Club and performs in events like Nonfire and Winterfest. She is currently trying out for the SCHS’s swim team, while also tackling setting up and performing for an upcoming, future event, called Fantastics.
Huynh starts her morning around 7:15 a.m. getting ready for school and arrives at the school library at 8:20 a.m. with her friends to hang out or catch up on homework. She’s currently rehearsing Fantastic’s dances’ and helping set up props while fitting time to go to swim conditioning, which results in her arriving home around 7:30 p.m.
With all of these tasks for Huynh to manage every day, on her time off she likes to hang out with friends and family, watch youtube, and go on TikTok. She also likes to keep herself busy by helping her peers and the community because it is an amazing satisfaction to be part of creating fun memories for others and for herself. “I never look at my busy schedule as overworking, when I work I just enjoy being able to get stuff done, which is a relieving reward itself, Huynh expressed.
