San Jose,CALIF  –  Florence Pugh absent from ¨Don’t Worry Darling¨ press release on Monday, September 5 despite starring in the film.  Don’t Worry Darling is set to be released September 23, 2022. It includes a star-studded cast:  Harry Styles, Florence Pugh, Olivia Wilde, Chris Pine, and Gemma Chan. To kick off promotions, a press release was held this past weekend in Venice to commence the press tour for the film. Despite holding a main role in the film, Pugh was not present at the press release.

¨Don’t Worry Darling¨ is a psychological thriller set in the suburbs of the 1950s. Directed by Olivia Wilde, the film begins with Alice (Florence Pugh) who begins to grow curious of her husband’s (Harry Styles) Secret Victory project. As the secret comes to unravel, her seemingly utopian life unravels as her community begins to turn on her.

The Venice Film Festival kicked off on 31 August and lasted until 10 September 2022.During this time, ¨Don’t Worry Darling¨ gained a lot of media attention, not from the movie itself but from the drama surrounding it.

In the past weeks the cast of Don’t Worry Darling has come face to face with a lot of drama, not only in the film, but outside the film as well. Beginning in April 2022 when director Olivia Wilde was served custody papers on stage while promoting Don’t Worry Darling at CinemaCon in Las Vegas. “I hated that this nastiness distracted from the work of so many different people and the studio that I was up there representing,” Wilde told Variety about being served custody papers on stage.

Florence Pugh who holds a lead role in Don’t Worry Darling has been almost completely absent from film promotions. With little to no promotion on social media and being no-show for press releases. Pugh has been in headlines of late for the first official press release of Don’t Worry Darling due to her absence.Pugh has claimed that her absence from the Venice Film festival was due to the filming of Dune 2 but the claim is weary when Dune co-star Timothy Chalamet was present at the Festival as well.

Sources believe this is due to Pugh and Wilde having off-screen tension due to Wilde’s off-screen romance with Harry Styles because of their inefficientness on-set. Although Wilde seems to be praising Pugh for her performance, Pugh does not seem to reciprocate her feelings. Pugh has also spoken out about her displeasement of her performance being reduced to her explicit scenes by Wilde. The tension was most visible at the red carpet event for Don’t Worry Darling when Pugh and Wilde seem to not interact at all and avoid each other throughout the event.
