SAN JOSE, CALIF. — Pop singer Olivia Rodrigo embarks on her sold out 2022 SOUR Tour with special guests: Gracie Abrams, Holly Humberstone, and Baby Queen.

Rodrigo first kick-started her tour with her show in Portland on April 5, 2022. However, the event really began when she announced her tour on Dec. 6, 2021.  The sale was on Dec. 10, 2021, where the tickets sold out in a matter of minutes. Although many fans were disappointed, Rodrigo assured, “If you weren’t able to get tickets this time around there will be more tours in the future and I can’t wait to see you then!”

Despite Rodrigo’s confirmation of future tours many fans were still upset due to the fact that all of the venues fit a few thousand when there were easily 90,000 people hoping to purchase a ticket. In response to this, Rodrigo stated they thought smaller venues were the way to go in order to not “skip any steps.”

Since the announcement up until the start of the tour, Rodrigo has come out with a Disney+ film, won Billboard’s Woman of the Year, received three Grammys, earned three iHeart Radio Music awards and so much more.

On the night of her show in Vancouver, Rodrigo’s good friend Conan Gray attended the concert and later got on stage to sing with her. Many fans of the two found it funny how he had been in a rush to leave his concert in order to attend Rodrigo’s.

After being on tour for a little less than a month, it was time for Abrams to depart. To celebrate her last day opening for Rodrigo on April 23, 2022, Rodrigo tweeted, “And since it’s prom seasonnnn I thought maybe we could turn SOUR TOUR into SOUR PROM???? Would u guys be down? Prom attire?” Later they crowned SOUR PROM queens with sashes that said, “If I looked like other other prom queens,” a line from Rodrigo’s song, “enough for you.”

Overall most fans are excited to see that Rodrigo’s stage presence has significantly improved since her previous performances and that she’s finally been able to live out her childhood dreams. Savanna Kowalski, a Silver Creek student stated, “I was super disappointed when I wasn’t able to get tickets, but I guess I understand her fear of having to perform in front of a huge audience. Plus, hopefully in her future tours she will have more songs to sing!”As for the future, Rodrigo is still set for many more shows outside the U.S. including Italy, Germany, U.K., France, etc, and is ready to welcome her other show openers Holly Humberstone and Baby Queen.
