 NBA All-Star Game 2022: Team LeBron Vs. Team Durant Highlights and Final Score

SAN JOSE, CALIF. – On Feb. 20, 2022, Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland, OHIO hosted the NBA All-Star Game with team captains LeBron James and Kevin Durant.

Team LeBron has star starters Stephen Curry, DeMar DeRozan, Nikola, Jokic, and Giannis Antetokounmpo. Team Durant star starters Joel Embiid, Ja Morant, Jayson Tatum, Trae Young, and Andrew Wiggins. 

This has now been  the fifth year that LeBron has been team captain and the second year for Durant. LeBron has now made 18 All-Star teams. ESPN reports “The selection for the starters was based on fan ballots for 50% of the vote, and a media panel and current players each made up 25%.”

Celebrities like Machine Gun Kelly, Usher, Spike Lee, Tiffany Haddish, Anthony Anderson, Earth, Wind and Fire performed and presented on Sunday. The NBA designed a new trophy in honor of Kobe Bryant, which was awarded to Curry for “Most Valuable Player.”

Some highlights of the game included Curry scoring 50 points with 15 triples to win the NBA All-Star Game Most Valuable Player award. And broke the record for most three-pointers in an All-Star Game. Embiid led the team with Durant with 36 points. While Devin Booker contributed 20 points and LaMelo Ball 18 points. Due to a knee injury, Durant was not able to attend either play due to a knee injury. Morant had two amazing dunks in the second quarter. 

Silver Creek student Lily Trinh who is currently a senior states, “My favorite highlight from the All-Star game is Stephen Curry shooting all the 3-pointers throughout the quarter, it was just amazing to see his capability.”

At last, team LeBron was victorious for the night in the 71st All-Star game defeating Team Durant 163-160. Team LeBron won $450,000 for the Kent State Promise Scholars program, while team Durant won $300,000 for the Cleveland Food Bank.
