SAN JOSE, CALIF. — On Jan. 11, Megan Fox posted her proposal in Puerto Rico with Machine Gun Kelly on Instagram with a baffling caption. Kelly’s engagement ring was designed to hurt if removed.

After a year and a half together, the couple got engaged in Puerto Rico. On Instagram, Fox posted a video with a beautifully written caption, “In July of 2020 we sat under this banyan tree. We asked for magic. We were oblivious to the pain we would face together in such a short, frenetic period of time. Unaware of the work and sacrifices the relationship would require from us but intoxicated off of the love. And the karma.” But then, the paragraph ended with a questionable line, “…and then we drank each other’s blood.” Viewers have conflicting thoughts. Nguyen Le, a freshman, thinks, “It has to be a publicity stunt!” Others believe it might be a reference to Jennifer’s Body, a movie Fox starred in. The movie is about a possessed high school girl, Jennifer, who kills her male classmates. There is a scene where Jennifer drinks the victim’s blood.

Furthermore, fiance Kelly proposed with an exquisite, one-of-a-kind ring. Designed by Stephen Webster, a well-known British custom jewelry designer, the ring shows an emerald stone (Fox’s birthstone) and a diamond stone (MGK’s birthstone) held together by a magnet. It symbolizes “two halves of the same soul forming the obscure heart that is our love.” But in an interview with Vogue, Kelly revealed, “The bands are actually thorns. So if she tries to take it off, it hurts.” They don’t say “Love is pain” for no reason. But the audience thinks it’s quite toxic. Arlyse Bunao, another student, commented, “This is definitely a red flag. If you knew they truly loved you, why would you put thorns on the engagement ring? It is not right at all.”

Kelly and Fox spent their time together in Lake Como after the engagement. What do you think about their engagement ring? Is it romantic or abusive? As much as it sounds bizarre, many fans think it’s totally “on brand” for this celebrity couple.
