SAN JOSE, CALIF. — On Nov. 5, 2021, the Astroworld Festival in Houston, Texas turned fatal with numerous casualties and all the suspects and witnesses at the event have now been placed under investigation
According to BBC News, this festival performance is considered the worst show of all time and many people have very interesting takes on it. Many students from the Silver Creek community gave ideas on how to prevent something like this from ever happening again. One anonymous student said, “There needs to be a more organized way to present this large showcasing to the fans. Security needs to be enhanced and there needs to be enough room in case any disaster was to occur.” Travis Scott is facing a bunch of criticism but he cannot be the only one to blame. Both management and planning failures were at play. There needed to be someone who understood crowd risk and how to ensure that everyone is safe in those tight spaces.
On top of that, Travis Scott himself encouraged his fans to vault the security barriers and sneak in. He then played one of his songs from 2018 called Stargazer which said, “It ain’t a mosh pit if ain’t no injuries.” He didn’t understand what he was doing was putting people’s lives in danger. Another anonymous student said, “Scott’s camp said they had no idea there was trouble during his show. I mean how is that possible if you see an ambulance in the middle of the crowd trying to help someone in need of medical attention.” In addition, people were jumping on top of the ambulance and dancing while Scott was performing. Those who were killed in the crowd ranged from age 14 to 27. Scott was accused of inciting riots at his concerts. Pleading guilty to minor charges. In an ongoing case, one man said, “He was partially paralyzed in 2017 after Mr. Scott encouraged people to jump from a third-floor balcony and had him hoisted onstage.”
The investigation is still ongoing and people are hoping to find the true cause of what happened. Overall, in my opinion, I believe Travis Scott acted very irresponsible during this whole performance and he should be held accountable for his actions and the incidents that occurred during his festival.
